Obituary: Douglas H. (Doug) Shepard, Sr., 69, of 509 Georgian Arms, Rome, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 at his residence after a long illness.
He was born January 22, 1939 in Camden the son of Merrit and Beatrice Pratt Hapeman.
Doug was educated in Camden.
On December 12, 1959 he married Katherine Croniser.
He was employed at Teelin Farm for several years.
Doug was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Surviving besides his wife are five daughters and two sons-in-law, Julie and Joseph Catello, Rome; Tina Hartle, Westmoreland; Liberty Shepard, California; Kathy Shepard, Camden; Jessica Platt, Oneida and Daniel Platt, Sr., Lee Center; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Douglas Shepard, Jr., Lee Center; Martin and Danielle Shepard, Utica, Utica; twenty-two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Monday 1:30P.M. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. You may view the obituary and send a message of sympathy at www.nunnandharper.com.
