Cox, Jr., 71, of Blossvale Road, Blossvale, New York, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born June 18, 1937 in White Haven, Pennsylvania the son of Charles and Ruth Martin Cox, Sr. Charles was a graduate of MMI Preparatory School, Freeland, Pennsylvania, SUNY at Binghamton and received his Master's Degree at SUNY IT. On February 1, 1958, he married Carol Hamelin in White Haven, Pennsylvania. Charles served in the United States Air Force for twenty-five years retiring as a Chief Master Sgt. in 1980. He later retired from IIT Research Institute in 1999. Over the years, he was active with the Boy Scouts of America, the Blossvale Volunteer Fire Department and the Mohawk Valley Chiefs group. He is survived by Carol, his wife of 50 years, three daughters, Cristal and husband, Christopher Schultheis, Hampton Bays, New York; Kelly and husband, Robert Hickey, Jr., Colleen and husband, Joseph Gloude, all of Blossvale; four sons, Craig and wife, Kimberly, Howard, Ohio; Brian and wife, Linda, Roseboom, New York; Keith and wife, Carla, Pound, Wisconsin; Cory and wife, Erin, Alexandria, Virginia; twenty-one grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Kenneth Sipler, Commerce Township, Michigan and one brother and sister-in-law, Brice and Carol, Big Bend, Wisconsin. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin W. Cox and his parents, Charles A. and Ruth Cox, Sr. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Saturday 9:30A.M. and St. Patrick's Church, Taberg 10:30A.M. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday 6:00P.M. to 9:00P.M. Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association-Central New York Chapter or Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.
