"Jim" Gleason, 79, of Rome, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at Stonehedge Nursing Home. He was born August 12, 1928 in Brooklyn the son of John and Mary Bokus Gleason. Mr. Gleason was educated in Rome. On September 9, 1950 he married Jean M. Koons in St. Mary's Church. Jim was employed by the United States Post Office retiring in 1982 and was previously employed at Griffiss Air Force Base. Mr. Gleason served in the United States Navy from 1946-1949. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ukrainian Club and the Rome Polish Home. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet A. Gleason, North Carolina; Kathleen and Angelo Fulgieri, Rome and two grandchildren, Chesira Fulgieri and Patrick Cadrette. Funeral will be held Tuesday at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome at 10:30A.M. and St. Mary's Church 11:00A.M. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
