Obituary: Bertha B. Quinn, formerly of Floyd and Rome, passed away on May 18, 2008, in the Presyberterian Home, in New Hartford. She was born in Hamtramck, Michigan, the daughter of John and Tekla Lesniak Kotowski. She attended the Tug Hill School House. On May 6, 1944, Bertha was united in marriage to William E. Quinn in Transfiguration Church in Rome. Mr. Quinn passed away on April 26, 2000.
She was employed by the Marcy State Hospital for several years, retiring in 1972. Bertha was previously employed by the General Cable Corp.
Bertha was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church and a former member of Floyd Senior Citizen Center.
Bertha's family wishes to express their gratitude to the entire staff at the Willow Wing of the Presbyterian Home for the care and compassion shown to her during her time there.
Surviving are four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon Larsen, of Rome, Carol and Gary Cummings, of Holland Patent, Joyce and Dean Nemeyer, of New Hartford, and Susan Quinn, of Rome; seven grandchildren, Michelle Relyea, Robert Larsen, Kathy Beckerman, Lance Cummings, Brady Nemeyer, Brooke DiMare, and Jason Quinn; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Bertha was predeceased by four sisters, Helen Lawruk on October 13, 1989, Mary Seals on November 15, 1995, Anna Kotowski on July 3, 2003, and Phyllis Syniec on January 12, 2005; and a brother, Martin Kotowski on July 28, 1971.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St. Rome, at 9:00 AM and a Mass of the Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church at 9:30 AM. Interment will take place in Townsend Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
