(Chip) Banks, 60, of Verona Mills Road, Rome, passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 in Oneida Healthcare Center, Oneida and was reunited with his loving wife.. He was born January 26, 1948 in Poughkeepsie, New York the son of Raymond and Beatrice Donahue Banks. Chip was educated in Rome . On December 18, 1971, he married Lorraine K. Peck in Lee Center. She passed away January 25, 2004. Chip was employed by the Department of Public Works for the City of Rome for twenty-six years retiring in 2003 to take care of his wife during her time of need. He enjoyed fishing and hunting especially with his grandchildren. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Shane and Lori Banks, Lee Center; Glen and Amy Banks, Rome; one sister, Dorothy Pickard, Rome; four special grandchildren, Raymond, Devin, Sean, Aliyah, who were the love of his life. Also surviving are several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and three very special pets, Boomer, Mickey and Casey. Chip's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff on the 4th floor at Oneida Healthcare Center for the kindness and compassion shown to him and his family during his illness.. Services: Funeral services will be held Monday 9:00A.M. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., Interment New Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 2:00P.M. to 4:00P.M. and 7:00P.M. to 9:00P.M.Sunday. Contributions may be made in Chip's memory to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
