Riley, 68, of 7640 Kriswood Drive., Rome, New York, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009, in Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare, New Hartford. She was born September 21, 1940 in St. Albans, West Virginia, the daughter of Homer (Doc) and Ruby CyrusThompson. Shirley was educated in St. Albans, West Virginia. On January 17, 1986, she married De Forest (Pat) Riley in Vienna. She was employed at Betsy Ross Skilled Nursing Home for several years retiring in 1997 due to disability and previously was employed at Rome Memorial Hospital. Surviving besides her loving wonderful. husband are three daughters and one son-in-law, Becky and Carl Duffey, Georgia; Terry Kreckie, Ilion; Tammy Escue, Sauquoit; one sister, Caroline Dunlap, Rome; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.. She was predeceased by a daughter, Tina M. Gebo and a sister, June Branham. Shirley's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Faxton- St. Luke's Healthcare and the Visiting Nurses Association for the kindness and compassion showed to her during her illness. Services: Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at Westernville Cemetery in the spring. There are no calling hours.
