(Tuna) Fountain, Sr., 72, of Expense Street, Rome, New York, died Sunday, December 28, 2008 in Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born February 1, 1936 in Chateaugay, New York the son of William and Jane Gushlaw Fountain. Mr. Fountain was educated in Rome. He was married to Charlotte Burnett. Tuna was employed by Aiken's Construction Company. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving are his special friend, Betty Redner, with whom he resided; one daughter, Shawnee Fountain, and friend Mack Underwood, Jr.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles (Tuna) Fountain and friend, Tammy Underwood, Michael and Diana Fountain, all of Rome; one sister, Vernice Squadrito, Rome; eight grandchildren, Charles, Cheyenne, Kassandra, Kayla, Mack, Lori, Tiffany, Christopher, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by seven sisters, Jane Pope, Evelyn Larrabee, Claudette Fountain, Ethel Cosimeno, Edith Squadrito, Jean Barber, Beverly Pope , three brothers, William, Wilbur, Wilson (Vic) Fountain and a stepbrother, George Smart. Services: Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Wednesday 4:00P.M. Interment Rome Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 1:00P.M. to 4:00P.M. In keeping with Tuna's wishes, the family has asked that you refrain from sending flowers.
