Obituary of Leo J Ludwin
Leo J. Ludwin, 86, of St. Rt. 69, Taberg, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Rome Health Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on February 15, 1938, in Taberg, the son of Joseph and Edna (Bryk) Ludwin. He attended Camden Schools.
On August 27, 1960, Leo was united in marriage to Shirley M. Hawkes in St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg.
Leo was the owner of Ludwin Farms in Taberg. He had a passion for farming and John Deere tractors that he passed down to his children whom he cherished working with. He was also a furnace operator for Revere Copper and Brass Products for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1994. He previously worked for Fallon Farm Supply in Rome.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg, a lifetime member of the Taberg Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the Rome Polish Home. He and his wife, Shirley, enjoyed their winters in Kissimmee, FL, where they met many friends from all over the US and Canada. They also enjoyed other trips to explore the world together.
Surviving besides his loving wife of sixty-four years, Shirley; are two children, Karen Ludwin, and Daniel Ludwin (Kathleen Cusyk), all of Taberg; a sister, Gladys Hecox, of WY; a sister-in-law, Patricia “Patsy” Hawkes, of Camden; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Leo was predeceased by a sister, Jennie Mahl; and three brothers-in-law, Bruce Hecox, Clarence “Buddy” Hawkes, and Clifford Mahl.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Taberg. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Leo’s memory to the Taberg Volunteer Fire Department.
