Obituary of James A Hughes

James A. Hughes, Sr., 82, of New York Mills, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Abraham House in Rome.

 

He was born on July 20, 1942, in Armonk, NY, the son of Raymond and Elizabeth (See) Hughes. 

 

Jim proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1960 to his honorable discharge in 1963.

 

He was married to Audrey See until her passing in 2010.

 

Jim was employed by Camden Wire for several years, previously working in the nursery industry in his hometown.

 

He was a Las Vegas Raiders and New York Yankees fan and enjoyed hanging out with his friends.

 

Surviving are two sons, James A. Hughes Jr., St. Johnsville, and Joseph A. Hughes, of Rome; thirteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.  Jim was predeceased by his wife; his parents; his daughter, Elisa Woodcock; and his brother, Ray Hughes.

 

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, there will be no services.
