Obituary of Robert J. Fidell

Robert J. Fidell, 87, of Ringdahl Court, Rome, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at his home under the care of Hospice surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 3, 1937, in Chittenango, the son of Jesse and Gertrude (Sharp) Fidell.  He attended Chittenango schools.

On May 15, 1971, Robert was united in marriage to Diane A. Cittadino in Utica.

He was a longtime employee of Utica Radiator and then went on to work as a security guard for L and B Security in Utica.

He enjoyed ice fishing and the Turing Stone Casino.  He was an all-around handyman that his family and friends relied on.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Diane; are two daughters, Tracy Fidell, of Altamonte Springs, FL, and Tammy Fidell, of New Hartford; a son, Richard Fidell, Sr., of Rome; five grandchildren, James Lindig, Jr., Torri (Derek) James, David, Lindig, Richard Fidell Jr. (Kylee Pratt), and Dylan (Aye Tway) Fidell; and three great-grandchildren, Gianni Pratt, Paxton Fidell, and Aafiyah Lay. He was predeceased by his parents; his great-grandson, Carson; and many brothers and sisters.

Robert's family would like to thank niece Bobbie and her husband Bob Foote for their compassion and care.

In keeping with Robert’s wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Roberts’s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY, 13413, or the American Lung Association, 418 Broadway, Albany, NY 12207. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
