Obituary of Wallace C. Fiedler

Wallace C. Fiedler, 80, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Syracuse VA Hospital. Born in North Bay, NY, on February 17, 1944, he was a son of the late Wallace and Marie (Cheney) Fiedler. He was a graduate of Camden High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. On November 23, 2023, he was united in marriage to his companion of 27 years, Amanda LaPointe.

 

Wallace worked 22 years for Birnie Bus Co. He was also caretaker and ranger at Camp Kingsley Boy Scout Camp in Ava for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and belonged to the Point Rock Fish and Game Club. He loved working with his hands, constantly building or fixing something.

 

Surviving besides his loving wife, Amanda, are two daughters, Samantha Oster (Jay) and Jennifer Quinzi; two sisters, Sheron Pearl (Harvey) and Lynne Philley (Greg); four grandchildren, Devon, Alex, Angel and Luzcia; two great-grandchildren, Kayden and Liliana; nieces and nephews, Leta Catalani (David), Ray Rotenberry (Melissa),  Sue Garlington, and Lee Rotenberry (Elaine); and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Leah Rotenberry (Cecil).

 

Wallace’s family would like to thank the Staff, Nurses, and Doctors at the Syracuse VA on 6A, 7B and 6C, as well as Justin Boswell and his wife Kaity, whom provided Wallace with excellent care at home, and Acacia Care Nurses for their home visits.  

 

A Memorial service will follow will be held on Wednesday, November 20th at 7:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St.., Rome NY 13440.   You may view the Obituary and send a message of sympathy at www.nunnandharper.com.
