Obituary of Mario Q. Carrado
Mario Q. Carrado, Jr., 90, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Betsy Ross Nursing Facility in Rome. Born in Rome on December 3, 1933, he was a son of the late Mario and Maria (Feliziani) Carrado. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953-55. On September 17, 1960, he was united in marriage to Beverly Cable, a blessed union of 64 years.
Mario worked for the City of Rome and the Department of Defense at Griffiss Air Force Base. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Mario loved his hound dogs and enjoyed taking them hunting. He was an excellent photographer and developed his own film. He wrote several short stories and was an avid reader and gardener. He was a big fan of the New York Yankees and horror movies.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Beverly, are four daughters, Laura Pendland (Ron), Cynthia Currie (Mike Vaccaro), Cristina Lenartowicz (Mark) and Lisa Entelisano (Bruce); a sister, Leodina Bauer; brother, Joseph Carrado (Sheila Holmes); seven grandchildren, Colin and Cianna Currie, Karina Lenartowicz, Megan McQueen (Tyler), Carolyn Getchell (Garrett), and Melanie and Bruce Entelisano II; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Gavin, Jason and Wren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 6th, at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, on Tuesday, November 5th, from 4-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mario’s memory to the St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
