Obituary of Judith H. Hyde
Judith Hojnacki Hyde, 85, of Durhamville, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side after a brief illness. She was born in Rome on February 6, 1939, a daughter of the late William and Gladys (Bridgeman) Hojnacki. She was a 1957 graduate of Rome Free Academy and on September 13, 1958, she was united in marriage to Richard Hyde. He passed away April 18, 2011.
Judy worked at the Rome Developmental Center for 29 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Verona Beach.
She is survived by three daughters, Dianne Fisk, Lynda Ferris (Ned) and Katharine Hyde; a son, David Hyde (Jean); two sisters, Margaret Matwijec and Kathleen Hojnacki; two sisters-in-law, Nina Hyde and Barbara Noffer; six grandchildren, Margaret Hammond, Michael Ferris (Colleen), Hope Ferris (Cheyenne White), Neil Ferris, and Carl and Christopher Fisk; a great-granddaughter, Kylie Hammond; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends, including her fellow retirees from Bridge St. Day-Hab . She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Hojnacki.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 4th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Verona Beach . Interment will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Rome. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, on Sunday, November 3rd, from 2-5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Judy’s memory to the New London Fire Department, 7063 Cornell St, Rome NY 13440 and/or the Town of Verona Food Pantry, 6600 Germany Rd., PO Box 75, Verona NY 13478.
