Obituary of Ronald J. Kanclerz

Ronald J. Kanclerz, 75 of Westernville NY, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at his home with his family at his side. He was born on March 4, 1949 in Rome, New York, the son of Charlie and Julia Bunal Kanclerz. Ron graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1968. On February 11^th 1984, he married Cathy Gresack at St Leo’s Catholic Church in Holland Patent, NY.

Ron ran his own business, Central New York Silo Repair, for over 20 years. Ron previously worked for Madison Silo Repair. During the winter months and the early years of his retirement, he worked the ski lifts at Woods Valley. Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was a member of the Steuben Fish and Game Club. Ron also found pleasure in riding the snowmobile trails across Central New York where he was a member of the Penn Mountain Snowmobile Club. Ron was a parishioner at St Leo’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Cathy, sons, Jesse and Luke with his daughter-in-law, Katy and three grandchildren, Leo, Walter, and Ruby. He is pre-deceased by his older brother Carl Kanclerz, with two surviving brothers Rudy (Mary) and Keith (Jennifer) Kanclerz, brothers-in-law David and Danny Gresack, sister-in-law Debora Carrier, and sister-in law Diane Mihalko along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A red shirt wearing connoisseur of Stewart’s coffee, apple fritters with a soft spot for dachshunds, Ron will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30^th, at 10:00 a.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440. Interment will take place in Steuben Valley Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 29^th from 5-7:00 p.m.
