Obituary of Herbert H. Secor
Herbert H. Secor, Sr., 90, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Rome Health. Born in Rome on October 2, 1934, he was a son of the late James C. and Alice (Butler) Secor. He was a 1954 graduate of Rome Free Academy and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on July 1, 1954, serving his country during the Korean War before being Honorably Discharged on June 30, 1957. On June 27, 1980, he was united in marriage to Eunice L. Reome. She passed away November 10, 1999.
Herb was an inspector at Revere Copper and Brass Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Transfiguration Church, Frank J. Steczko Post 302, and the Henry P. Smith Post 24 American Legion.
He is survived by two stepsons, Randolph Sorrell and Timmy Sorrell; stepdaughter, Sandra Simon; brother, Robert Secor; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ernestine Wood and Alice Muth; a brother, James Secor Jr.; and stepchildren, Debra McMinn and Keith Sorrell.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 21st at 12:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, NY 13440. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
