Obituary of John H. Musch

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness that the family of John (Jack) Musch announce his passing on Thursday August 29, 2024 to spend eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jack was born on June 9, 1951 son of the late Paul and Muriel (Eastham) Musch in Rome, NY. He lived his entire life in Camden being raised on the family farm Braebrook where he learned his unrelenting work ethic which led him to construct his own home and many buildings on his property. Jack graduated with the class of 1969 from Camden High School where he ran cross country and was a member of the marching band playing the trumpet. After graduation he held a number of odd jobs including being a tree climber for Davey Tree Company. Jack married Ruthann Carletta on March 16, 1974. A union of 50 years. Jack tapped maple trees collecting the sap in Camden, Florence and Taberg area for Little Chief Maple Syrup for 25 years. The job Jack enjoyed the most was working with his Uncle Neil Wright when they joined forces selling firewood. Jack worked 30 years for Harden Furniture in the woodshop retiring in 2009. Jack volunteered as a coach for AYSO Soccer and for Camden Little League and Senior League organization for more than 10 years. He coached a Major League team with Ken Walker for 3 years where he was well taught. Their teams earned 54 straight wins. Jack then coached Senior League as his sons moved into that league where he coached a championship team. He enjoyed playing horseshoes with his partner Randy Spink and deer hunting especially with his son Jed. Jack and Ruthann began ballroom dancing in January 2005 once their sons went out on their own becoming members of several dance clubs, The Patrician Dance Club, The One Hundred Club and USA Dance Group #3066. They danced as often as possible including every weekend at various venues and attending Star Dust Dance weekends several times a year in the Catskills.

Jack and Ruthann enjoyed a special and close friendship with Randy Spink who frequently welcomed them into his home and with Dottie and Jeff DeSimone who they met dancing, sharing many memorable vacations, dance events and just spending wonderful times laughing and enjoying each other’s company.
