Obituary of Christopher R. Morba
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Robert Morba, 63 years old, who succumbed unexpectedly on July 17, 2024 due to complications from recent surgery.
Chris was born in Rome, NY on October 6, 1960, the youngest son of Andrew J. and Edna Albrecht Morba. He attended Rome schools, participated in the Rome Little League team, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1978.
After high school Chris moved to San Jose, CA and opened Paul’s BBQ with his brother Tom, where he furthered his love of cooking. Eventually he moved back to New York State where he attended the New York Restaurant School in Manhattan to formalize his chef training. Chris was a professional chef and worked at restaurants in both the New York City area and central New York. He was also a culinary instructor at Paul Smith’s College, located in the Saranac Lake, NY area.
Chris was an avid fisherman enjoying multiple trips to Lake Albanel in northern Canada, to Lake Ontario, and to the many lakes and streams in New York State.
Chris is survived by his daughter Arlene Morba of Rome, his sister Linda Loucy of Rome, and brother Tom Morba and nieces Caroline and Catherine Morba of Durham, NC, also his grandchildren Trevor Fliss, Ryleigh, and Julian of Rome, and his many cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Andrew and Edna Morba, and his brother John Morba.
Special thanks to his close friends Tony, Gary, Renee, and Bryce who maintained close contact with Chris throughout his ordeal, and Shyanna Waterman, his special care giver.
Christopher faced his illness these past several years with both courage and strength.
