Obituary of Jean E. Young

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jean E. Young, 92, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Masonic Care Community. She was born in Springfield, MA, on July 15, 1931, a daughter of the late Ralph and Susie (Chadbourne) Kennedy. She was married to the late Norman Young.

Jean worked for NY Telephone for many years before retiring. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, cooking for family and friends, and reading a great book. However, spending time with her great-grandchildren and grandchildren gave her the greatest joy. They meant the world to her.

Jean is survived by two daughters, Deborah Kiefer (Dale Henderberg) and Karen Barry; a son, John Young (Mariann); five cherished grandchildren, Paul Kiefer (Jessica), Jessica Dickinson (Troy), Timothy Kiefer (Kate), John Young (April) and Michael Young (Krystin); five precious great-grandchildren, Aidan Kiefer, Ethan Schultz, Jayce Dickinson, Kenzleigh McGriff, and Olive Young; and a special nephew, Brian Kennedy.

Jean’s family would like to thank the Masonic Care Community Albany Household for their extraordinary care and compassion. They were amazing.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
