William “Bill” Edward Smith followed the light to his heavenly reward, running and leaping for joy. Bill is survived by his wife, Delores “Dory” (Cieslak) and three children, Delores “Dee” Krutz (Edward), William Smith, Jr. (Kate) and Jason Smith (Chris Connor), whom he was so proud of; grandchildren, Jesse Krutz, Ella Smith, Vanessa Krutz, Benjamin Smith, Brooke Case, Haylee Case, Corey Krutz and Brandi Lloyd; a sister, Betty Kotary; brother-in-law, Bob Cieslak; siste   r-in-law, Betty Cardamone; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Betty (Perry) Smith; and a sister, Deborah Smith.

Bill served his country in the United States Navy. He retired after a long career at Verizon and served on Town of Floyd Board for a number of years. He loved attending bluegrass festivals, camping and jamming whenever he could find a jam.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440. Interment will take place in Floyd Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 5th, from 4-6:00 p.m.
