Name: John J. Gorski, Jr. Date of Death: Friday, October 17, 2008 Residence: Rome, New York Age: 81 Obituary: John J. Gorski, Jr., 81, of N. Charles St., Rome, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2008, at his son's home in Rensselaer, with his loving family at his side, following a long illness. He was born on January 22, 1927, in Rome, the son of John J. and Margaret DesChambeau Gorski, Sr. He attended Rome schools. On September 11, 1948, he was united in marriage with Genevieve Cidzik in Transfiguration Church. Mrs. Gorski passed away on March 10, 2001. John was a quality control inspector for Revere Copper and Brass Products for over thirty-five years, retiring in 1992. Mr. Gorski proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II in the European Theatre. He was a member of Transfiguration Church and the Henry P. Smith Post #24 American Legion. Surviving are a daughter, Patti-Ann Gorski, of Syracuse; two sons and daughters-in-law, John M. "Jack" and Judy Gorski, with whom he resided, and Donald and Hiroko Gorski, of Wellsville; seven grandchildren, James, Melissa, Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Tamika, and Mark; one great-granddaughter, Autumn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services: Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Monday, October 20, 2008, at 9:15 AM and a Mass of the Christian Burial at Transfiguration Church at 10:00 AM where the Rev. Lucian Urbaniak will officiate. Interment will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Contributions may be made in John's memory to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
