Obituary of Timothy J. Mortis

Timothy J. Mortis, 56, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Wynn Hospital in Utica. Born in Rome on July 21, 1967, he was a son of the late Francis and Mary (Hayes) Mortis, Jr. On May 28, 2004, he was united in marriage to Patricia Bailey.

Tim was an umpire for several baseball and softball leagues throughout the city for many years. He worked as a delivery man for Pizza Hut for several years. He was a huge sports fan and loved his Washington Commanders.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Patty, is a sister, Rosellen Gray (John); two brothers, Joseph and Wonder Mortis; two stepchildren, Brian Grower and Stacy Bello; seven grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Donna Harrell (Les), Robin Bailey (Anthony), Doreen Dobrzenski (Frank), Kathy Pelham (Tammy), Donald Bailey (Tina), Diana Brown (Woodrow) and Michael Wild; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Mortis.
