Obituary of Fern D. Collins

Fern D. Collins, 80, of Camden, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Abraham House of Rome. Born in Camden on February 17, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Marion (Hess) Chabot. On August 1, 1959, she was united in marriage to Gary W. Collins. He passed away July 14, 2021.

Fern was a bartender and waitress in several Camden area establishments for many years. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Camden.

Fern loved her flowers and spent hours tending to her garden. She had a love of cats and nature and would often take walks through Forest Park. In her younger years she enjoyed camping and canoeing and loved music and dancing.

She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Solomito (Joseph), Karen Collins and Christine Popkey (Roy); a sister, Tari Ann Chabot; eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.  

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Fern’s memory to the Abraham House of Rome, 417 N. Washington St., Rome NY 13440.
