Obituary of Daniel R. Tartaglia
Daniel R. Tartaglia, 76, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family at his side on Friday, October 20, 2023. Born in Rome on July 11, 1947, he was the son of the late Daniel G. and Marion (Allen) Tartaglia. Dan was a 1965 graduate of Camden High School and 1969 graduate of Bryant (RI) College. On May 10, 1974, he was united in marriage to Dawn Clemens, a blessed union of 49 years.
Dan worked at Harden Furniture in McConnellsville, NY, for 40 years, retiring as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He went on to work at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., for over 10 years.
Dan was an active member and Deacon at Rome Alliance Church. He also served the community as a longtime board member and Treasurer at the Copper City Community Connection, formerly the Ava Dorfman Senior Center.
Dan will be remembered for his kind and caring nature. His greatest joys in life were watching his grandkids play sports and getting the whole family together for vacation. He loved to play pitch with his family, bridge at the Senior Center, and the slots at the casino.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Dawn, is a daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Steven Mudry; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Lori Tartaglia; three cherished grandsons, Steven, Justin and Liam; four sisters, Laura Tartaglia (Georgene Eggert), Debbie Carpenter (Junior), Barbara Clemens (Gary) and Denise Ballou (Larry); and several nieces and nephews.
The Tartaglia family is a testimony to God’s design for a family—love God, love others. The love in this family is hard to describe. It is most of all self-sacrificing and abundantly generous.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 27th at 11:00 a.m. at the Rome Alliance Church, 920 Turin St., Rome NY 13440. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, on Thursday, October 26th from 4-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dan’s memory to the Rome Alliance Church, Hospice and Palliative Care or the Copper City Community Connection.
