Unfortunately we were unable to attend services. Ann and I had the opportunity to spend two winters in Florida with Bob! Play golf, have a beer and out to diner! We are extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to know and enjoy his company! An American hero in the true sense who was able to play a great game of golf at 96! Our condolences to the family and a lost of a good friend!

My path crossed with Bob’s when I was assigned as his Honor Flight guardian. We talked non stop the entire day and continued our friendship sending Christmas cards for years to come. Bob was sharp, charming, engaging, and proud of his country, family, and life experiences. I was so humbled by his stories- one that sticks was his return from
WWII- middle of the night train ride home, walked in his house quietly went upstairs to bed and woke the next morning to breakfast with his family and return to life. I was so honored to be able to accompany him throughout the honor flight mission to witness the community thank you and welcome home. I think he appreciated this honor. Bob, I feel blessed to have known you.

Bob, Rob, Margaret, and I visited the WW-II Museum in New Orleans to consult with the team veterans restoring a Motor Torpedo Boat. Bob's insight and recollection of the layout of this vessel was very precise and detailed. We later traveled to New Orleans for a voyage on this PT Boat.
I have interviewed over 65 men and women as a participant in the Veterans History Project and Bob's story was very moving, shared with great detail, and with the added spice of his personality.
As I have said at the end of all these interviews: "You have traveled far and seen much and a grateful nation thanks you for your service."

Have had the wonderful opportunity to meet many people having lived in a dozen places in my lifetime and visited 50 states, 10 provinces of Canada and 40 countries. Bob was among the handful I’ve admired the most in my lifetime while enjoying his friendship just so much. Whenever I was paired with him in the Senior League at Teugega, I was delighted for the opportunity to share those hours together. When my wife Susan was alive, we would go to happy hour primarily to spend some time with him as he always visited our table. Bob’s life was an inspiration for all and especially for me as I intend to ski black diamonds, golf shooting my age and ride my Harley at 100, But most of all like Bob have a smile for everyone I meet.
