Name: Eleanor Engle Date of Death: Tuesday, September 02, 2008 Residence: Rome, NY Age: 87 Obituary: Eleanor J. Engle, 87, formerly of Black River Blvd., Rome, New York, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in Rome Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility after a long illness. She was born September 4, 1920, in Rome, the daughter of Robert and Bessie Mae Hughes Roberts. Mrs. Engle was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On May 18, 1946, she married Franklyn Engle in Rome. He died June 17, 1986. Mrs. Engle was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active in the Circle Board of the church. She was also a past Deacon of the Wright Settlement Cemetery Board. Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Joanne Engle, Syracuse, Theodore and Sandra Engle, and Thomas and Robyn Engle, Sr., all of Rome, Robert and Karen Engle, Rochester; one brother, Thomas Roberts, Syracuse; and ten grandchildren, Christian, Meredith, Gregory, Maureen, Daniel, Mary, Thomas, Jr., Ashley, Frank, Patrick and Janelle. Services: Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 1:00P.M. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. Contributions maybe made in Eleanor's memory to the First Presbyterian Church.
