Obituary of Margaret Russell

Margaret M. Russell, 93, of Rome, went Home to be with her LORD and GOD, Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 15, 2023.  Born in Redwood, NY, on April 12, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William and Rosetta (Hutton) May.

Margaret worked at Harden Furniture in McConnellsville for many years before opening her own hair salon.

She was a member of the Harrisville Christian Church and few people met Margaret for very long before they heard about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, including her sons, Jack and Jay. She loved the LORD, her family and her church family with her whole heart.

Margaret always made Christmas special for her family and insured they knew the true purpose of that day. Some say she missed her calling as an Evangelist and fantastic baker!

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Mary Kay Gardner; a daughter-in-law, Sherlyn Gardner; five grandchildren, Jennifer Raucci (Joseph), Jacquelyn Cook (Whitney), Jeremy Gardner, Jennifer Gardner and Janet Gardner; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Douglas May and Dwayne May (Linda). She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Gardner; son, Jay Gardner; and brother, William May.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 8^th at 10:00 a.m. the Harrisville Christian Church, 8252 State Rt. 3, Harrisville NY 13648. There are no calling hours. Interment will take place in Plessis Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Margaret’s memory to the Harrisville Christian Church, PO Box 205, Harrisville, NY 13468.
