Obituary of James H. Page
James H. Page, 87, of Rome, died on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Rome Health Hospital.
He was born on June 22, 1936, in Boston, MA, to Barbara (McGee) and Harold Page.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peg” J. Page; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Ott and her husband, Joseph, of Rome, and Margaret Mary DiBiase and her husband, Peter, of Rome; his grandchildren Eric C. Page and wife, Eliana, their son, Adrian J. and daughter, Luisa A., Cameron J. Ott, Corey J. Ott, Callie A. Ott; and his sister, Mary Jean Wilson and her husband, Robert, of Tewksbury, MA.
He is a graduate of Brown University with a bachelors of arts degree. He then entered the United States Air Force as a commissioned officer in 1959. He earned his pilot wings a year later. He proudly flew first line jet fighters, F-102, F-101, and F4 for most of his career. He also flew the B-52. His combat decorations included nine Air Medals and the Bronze Star. After retiring from the Air Force in 1979, he earned his Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He taught for approximately twenty years at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Marcy, NY, until he retired in December 2003.
He was active in civic affairs while serving on the Planning Board and the Board of Assessment Review, Town of Lee, for several years. He served as President, Treasurer, and Board member of the Camden Rod and Gun Club as well as teaching safety/training courses.
Jim’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Rome Health Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to him.
Per James’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Interment will take place in Sampson Veteran’s Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to Rome Rescue Mission or the Rome Humane Society.
