Obituary of Michael J. Mahl

Michael J. Mahl, 53, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, September 2^, 2023 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica, NY. He was born in Quantico, VA, on June 6, 1970, a son of Lyle Mahl and Karen Pierkarski. On February 26, 2000, he was united in marriage to Reta Wishart.

Mike was currently employed at Centro in Utica as a mechanic. He loved being in the garage, working on anything with wheels and engine, and riding three wheelers and four wheelers. He enjoyed watching That ‘70s Show and Moparss. His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his grandbabies.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Reta, is his mother, Karen Pierkarski (Mark Forsythe); step-father, Gerrard Parry; five children, Michael Mahl, Zachary Mahl, Jessica Roe (Joshua) Wayne Miller (Elaine) and Randy Miller (Victoria); sister, Lisa Mahl; brother, Erik Parry (Francesca); he loved being a grandfather to Iyanna, Eevee, Dexter, Lincoln, Rowan, Henry, Alec, Jaxon, Dallas, Emma and Nadia; grandmother, Mary Morrison; aunts and uncles, Elaine Boyer, Kevin Pierkarski (Donna), Brian Pierkarski (Lee), Christine Handzel (Joseph), Sabine Pierkarski, John Morrison, Helen Korosec (Chad) and David Mahl; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George Wishart (Bernadette), Penny Millson (Rick), George Wishart (Sue Roberts), Frank Wishart (Bonnie), Keith Wishart (Kim) and Kelly Wishart (Cheryl), Victoria0  Wishart (Mike), Winnie Lyman (Steve) and Melinda Wishart; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Sadie, and cat, Penelope.. He was predeceased by his father, Lyle; grandparents, Lyle and Winnie Mahl, Sabine Pierkarski; step-grandfather, John “Jack” Morrison; in-laws, George and Ruth Wishart; and uncle, Myles Pierkarski.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8^th at 7:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, NY 13440. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday prior to the service from 4-7:00 p.m.
