Obituary: Eileen D. Terzini, 85, of 6632 Williams Rd., Rome, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at her home with her loving family at her side. She was born on July 16, 1923, in Oneida, the daughter of Thomas and Helen Stone Dixon. She was a graduate of Camden Central High School and of St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing. In July of 1949, she was united in marriage to James E. Terzini in Utica. Mr. Terzini passed away on March 1, 1991.
Eileen was the operating room nursing supervisor at Rose Hospital for many years.
She was a member of St. Paul's Church and dedicated to Right to Life. Eileen was actively involved in Special Olympics for more than forty years.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Monica and Stephen Mercurio, of Rome, Mary Margaret and James Cameron, of Fairfield, VT, and Maureen and Craig Zullo, of Rome; two sons, James P. Terzini and Ralph T. Terzini, both of Rome; a sister, Rita Moring, of North Bay; a brother, Richard Dixon, of Palm Beach, FL; and ten grandchildren, Matthew Mercurio and his wife, Emily, of Pittsburgh, Christian Mercurio and his wife, Andrea, and Patrick Mercurio, all of Rome, and Maria and her husband, Jeffrey Dorsch, of Laurel, MD, Kenneth and Jacob Cameron, of Charlotte, VT, Carolyn, Allison, and Lindsey Zullo, and Nicole O'Brien, all of Rome; six great-grandchildren, Carmella and Stone Mercurio, of Rome, Alta and Lorenzo Mercurio, of Pittsburgh, and Mia and William Dorsch, of Laurel, MD.; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by a sister, Cecelia Capparelli, and a brother, Thomas A. Dixon.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Saturday, August 30, 2008, at 11:45 AM and a Mass of the Christian Burial at St. Paul's Church at 12:30 PM. Interment will take place in St. John's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 AM.
