Obituary:Richard E. (Dick) Clemens, 86, formerly of Verona, died Wednesday, July 16,
2008 at the Martin Luther Home in Clinton after a long illness.
He was born May 13, 1922 in Rome the son of DeForrest and Evelena Kirk
Clemens.
Mr. Clemens was educated in Verona.
On March 20, 1979 he married Helen Dwyer in Ilion. She died August 18, 1997.
Dick was employed at the Rome-Verona K0A for over twenty-five years retiring
in 2000 and previously was the Greens Superintendent at Teugega County Club for
several years.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in the
Pacific Theatre.
Dick was a member of the Stanwix Men's Club and Henry P. Smith Post
American Legion.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Melodye and Elwin (Al) Waterman,
Verona; one sister, Marion Tanner, Rome; several nieces and nephews. He was pre-
deceased by a sister, Shirley Powers and three brothers, DeForrest, Leslie and James
Clemens.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N.
George Street, Rome Friday 1030A.M. Interment Verona Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. .
Contributions may be made in Dick's memory to the Rome Humane Society.
