Obituary: Thomas L. (Tom) Kehoe, 91, of Rome, passed away on Monday, June 02, 2008, in Rome Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born on July 29, 1916, in Rome, the son of Matthew and Margaret Donahue Kehoe. Tom was a graduate of St. Aloysius Academy, and the Utica School of Commerce. He also attended Utica College of Syracuse University. On February 5, 1940, he was united in marriage to Jean Tedd in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Rome. Mrs. Kehoe passed away on April 29, 1992.
Tom was the owner and operator of Automatic Vending Services for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1981. He previously worked for Spargo Wire.
He was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church. Tom was also a member of the B.P.O.E. Rome Lodge No. 96, the Rome Knights of Columbus, Council 491 and its 4th Degree Assembly, and the Rome Moose Lodge. He was formerly a member of the Lake Delta Yacht Club and various other professional organizations.
Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Frank Defillipes, of Corning, CA; two sons and a daughters-in-law, U.S. Air Force Ret. Col., T. Larry and Mary Alice Kehoe, of Coronado, Republic of Panama, and M. Tedd and Ann Kehoe, of Rome; seven grandchildren, Amy Flecher, Thomas L. Kehoe III, Dawn Thompson, Erin Fox, Terri Van Epps, Carlos Jackson, and Kwame Kehoe; eight great-grandchildren, Andrew D'Amore, Ashley D'Amore, Michael D'Amore, Katie Thompson, Christina Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Yasmine Flecher, and Camryn Van Epps; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Kehoe was predeceased by a daughter, Maureen Kehoe; two sisters, Kay Butler and Mae Kern; and four brothers, Edward Kehoe, James Kehoe, Matthew Kehoe, and James Nester.
Tom's family wishes to extend their thanks to the Rome Memorial Hospital Third Floor East Extended Care Staff for the loving care they gave to Tom.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 9:45 AM and a Mass of the Christian Burial at St. Peter's Church at 10:30 AM where the Rev. Philip A. Hearn will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 PM.
