Obituary: John J. (Jack) Marion, 86, 6409 Wager Drive, Rome, New York, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, in Rome Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He was born August 23, 1921, in Archbald, Pennsylvania, the son of John and Anna Brennan Marion.
Jack was a graduate of Archbald High School.
On November 12, 1949, he was united in marriage to Judy Montagliano in Fairport.
He was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base for over thirty-five years, retiring in 1980.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp serving during World War II in the European Theatre.
He was a member and Past Grand Knight of the Rome Knights of Columbus, Council 391, the Fourth Degree Assembly, and formerly a member of the Lake Delta Yacht Club.
Jack was an avid sports fan and especially loved, Notre Dame and the Boston Red Sox's. He also enjoyed fishing with his many friends.
Surviving besides his loving wife: are one sister Mary Ellen Casey, Boalsburg, Pennsylvania; three brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Joan Marion, Archbald, William and Eleanor Marion, Levittown, Pennsylvania, Joseph and Patricia Marion, Archbald; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Anna Marion.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:15 P.M. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc. ,418 George Street, Rome and St. Paul's Church at 2:00P.M. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral Home 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. Monday. Contributions may be made in Jack's memory to St. Paul's Church Memorial Fund.
