Name: Frank W. Chwazik Date of Death: Tuesday, May 20, 2008 Residence: Rome, New York Age: 87 Obituary: Frank W. Chwazik, 87, of Coleman Mills Rd., Rome, passed away on May 20, 2008, at the Katherine Lutheran Home in Clinton. He was born on October 3, 1920, in Utica, the son of Paul and Catherine Halama Chwazik. He attended Utica Free Academy. On July 24, 1943, he was united in marriage to Nellie Kochman in Rome. Mrs. Chwazik passed away on March 16, 2004. Frank was employed by the Rome Cable Corp. for thirty years, retiring in 1982. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. He was a member and past president of the South Rome Senior Citizen Center. Frank was also a member of Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, the Henry P. Smith Post 24 American Legion, and the Rome Polish Home. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Robert Collins, of Spencerport; a son, Paul Chwazik; a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Clarence "Bud" Gurley, of Utica; a brother, Thaddeus "Ted" Chwazik, of New York Mills; two grandsons, Daniel and Eric; two great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Rene'e; and several nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by five sisters, Gladys La Duc, Sophie Sheetz, Stella Rajca, Vickie Badger, and Mary Miller; and a brother, Edward Chwazik. Frank's family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Gordon Unit Staff at the Katherine Lutheran Home for their kindness and compassion shown to him during his stay. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., at 9:15 AM and a Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church where the Rev. Mark A. Pasik will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
