Obituary: Gregory E. Pycior, 87, 5942 Lowell Rd., Rome, died February 27, 2006 at Rome Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.
Mr. Pycior was born March 12, 1918 in Rome, a son of Jozeph and Eva Drapaia Pycior. He was educated in Rome schools. On November 25, 1948, he married Pearl Fisher in Whitesboro. Gregory worked for the Rome Developmental Center for over thirty years, retiring in 1981. He served in the US Army during World War II in the European Theatre, earning the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. Mr. Pycior was a member of Transfiguration Church, the South Rome Senior Center, Polish Home, and Lowell Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl, two daughters, Joyce Murray and Dorine Pycior, both of Rome; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James and Joyce, Canastota, Arthur and Alice, Brookville, FL and George, Florida; two sisters, Helen Bosak, Rome, Sophie Voci, Michigan; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Gregory was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Peter, John and Frank and a sister, Betty Zaleski.
