Ambrose (Ambie) Macbeth, 90, of 40 Sunset Avenue, Lenox, MA, formerly of Rome, NY, died suddenly, Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Berkshire Medical Center, Pittsfield, MA. He was born August 7, 1916 in Causapscal, Quebec, CAN, the son of William and Ellen Grogan Macbeth. Mr. Macbeth was a graduate of Utica schools. He also attended the Utica School of Commerce, MVCC and Utica College. On September 19, 1942, he married Marian Hauss in St. Peter's Church, Rome. She died January 16, 2006. Ambie was employed by the Rome Sentinel Company as an Advertising Salesman for over thirty-five years, retiring in 1981. He was previously employed at St. Agnes Church in Utica and New York Power and Light Company. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, serving during World War II, and was honorably discharges on September 13, 1945, as Gunner's Mate 1st Class. Mr. Macbeth was a member of St. Paul's Church, a life member of the Rome Elks Lodge, and he was also a member and served as Secretary for several years of the Lake Delta Yacht Club. Ambie's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff's at Bethany Gardens and Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center, Sedgwick Unit, for the kindness and compassion shown to him during his illness. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Christine (Chris) and Dennis Rivers, Lee, MA, one son and daughter-In-law, Michael and Jeanne Macbeth, Derby Line, VT; and two grandsons, Aaron Macbeth and his wife Amy, and Timothy Macbeth. Funeral will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Friday 9:15A.M. and St. Paul's Church 10:00A.M.. Interment will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. Thursday. Contributions in Ambie's memory maybe made to the St. Paul's Church Memorial Fund. Services: Funeral will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Friday 9:15A.M. and St. Paul's Church 10:00A.M.. Interment will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. Thursday.
