Obituary:Catherine G. LoMascolo, 91, of Rome, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006, in Bethany Gardens with her loving family by her side. She was born March 26, 1915, in Rome, the daughter of Bernard and Theresa Tallerino Froio. She was educated in Rome schools. On June 13, 1936 she married Nofeio LoMascolo in St. John's Church on River St. in Rome. Mr. LoMascolo passed away October 8, 1988.
Catherine worked at Rome Memorial Hospital for several years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Marcy. She was also a member of the Ava Dorfmann Senior Citizen Center and she loved playing Bingo and traveling with the seniors. Catherine enjoyed family gatherings and traveling with her children. She took delight in cooking and baking her specialties for them.
Catherine was a very loving and caring mother always doing special things for her family and friends. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Dolores Rossi, Rome; Mary and Dick Lickfield, Rome; Kathleen and Tom Mancuse, Rome; and Fran Washburn, Sylvan Beach; a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Sharon LoMascolo, Rome; a sister, Theresa Pristera, Rome; fifteen grandchildren, Sherie and Jim Bass, Bill and Linda Rossi, Lisa Wayman, Richard and Sue Lickfield III, Brian and Becky Lickfield, Kim and Tom Nesfeder, Tommy and Michael Ann Mancuse, Craig Mancuse and Megan, Deanna and Garrett Pomichter, Danette Taverna, David Taverna II, Jordan, Amber, Moriah, and Savannah LoMascolo; nineteen great grandchildren, Brianna, Brooke, Kiersten, Richie, Mandy, Logan, Robert, Alex, Joseph, Daniel, Thomas, Bryanna, Elissa, Amber, Devin, Camryn, Jacob, Alex, and Stephen; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Josie Candido, California, and Vinny Servadio, Whitesboro. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Stanizzi and Connie Froio, and six brothers, Anthony, Patsy, Ralph, Joseph, Dominick, and Benny.
Catherine's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Bethany Gardens and the Rome Memorial Hospital. Their dedication to making our mothers time at their facility was a constant blessing to her.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Friday at 1pm. Interment will take in place St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-9pm.
