She was born March 4, 1913 in Rome the daughter of Joseph and Helen Czajkowski Milanowski. She was educated in Rome schools. On June 29, 1946 she married John Zakala in Transfiguration Church. He died September 27, 1991. Mary worked at Rome Manufacturing for several years. She was also a member of Transfiguration Church. Mary is survived a son and daughter-in-law, James and Robin Zakala, Rome; sister-in-law, Mary Milanowski, Rome; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Stella Mercurio, and a brother, Frank Milanowski. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:30am at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, and Transfiguration Church at 10am. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7pm.
