Obituary:James G. (Jim) Bush, 87, of 609 Lynwood Street, Rome, New York , died Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Rome Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born March 1, 1920 in Northeast, Pennsylvania the son of Henry and Laurana Murphy Bush.
Jim was educated in Glenfield, New York schools.
On October 24, 1945 he married Laura Gibadlo in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Mr. Bush was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base for thirty-four years retiring in 1976.
Jim was a veteran of the United States Army during WW2 serving with the 1St. Infantry Division(THE BIG RED ONE) in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatres and fought in the battles of French Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Omaha Beach, Rhineland, Central Europe, ending at Eger, Czechoslovakia.
He received many medals, including, the Bronze Star, American Defense Good Conduct, Distinguished United Badge and the Bronze Arrowhead.
He was a member of St. Peter's Church, life member of the VFW, DAV and the Henry P. Smith Post American Legion.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia Cooke, Louisville, Kentucky; Sandra and Raymond DeGennaro, Rome; one brother and sister-in-law, Shirley and Phillip Bush, Lowville., five grandchildren, Melissa Wood, Christine Cooke,, Darren, Corey and Michael DeGennaro , three great-grandchildren, Megan, Kelly and Kyle Wood and many nieces, nephew and cousins. Predeceased by nine brother and sisters.
Services: Funeral will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Tuesday 9:15 A.M. and St. Peter's Church 10:00A.M. . Interment St. Peter's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M.
