Obituary: Roger Tanner Last, 67, of Holland Patent, died April 30, 2007 in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica. He was born January 25, 1940, in Rome, the son of Leland and Marquerite Crossman Last. Roger attended Holland Patent schools. On September 24, 1960, he married Shirley Salmon, in Northwestern, NY. He was a self-employed mechanic. Roger was still lending a helping hand to keep the equipment at the Beeches running, and frequently offered his presence and knowledge at T & R Auto.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Sherry and Barry Ross, Holland Patent, Bonnie Witek and her finance' Thomas Hopler, Boonville; two sons, Leland M. Last, and Michael W. Last, both of Holland Patent; five grandchildren, Timothy and his finance' Missi Farley, Mark, Jonathan, Sylvia, and Holly; three great grandchildren, Angel, Gabrielle, and Isabelle; two brothers, Marc L. and Cecelia Last, Westernville, and Allen E. and Kathy Last, Lee Center; two sisters-in-law, Beverly and Robert Johnson, Remsen, and Nancy Pelton, Holland Patent; one brother-in-law, James and Carol Salmon, Rome; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles; and his beloved dog, Scrappy. Roger was predeceased by two daughters, Connie and Linda.
Roger's family would like to thank all the coffee shops where he would entertain them with his coffee cup and spoon music, especially Bev's Place.
Services: Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., Friday at 12pm. Interment Steuben Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM.
