Obituary: John W. Geissler, 85, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007 in the comfort of his home surrounded by loving family. He was born on February 1, 1922, in Bern Switzerland, the son of John and Anna Aeschlimann Geissler. They immigrated to the U.S., settling in New London when John was 18 months old. John attended District #25 school in New London and graduated from Verona High School in 1941. He married Cora Robinson on August 16, 1952. She predeceased him on May 25, 1981. John married Barbara Reinhardt in May 1984.
John was employed at G.L.F., then owned and operated his own dairy farm, retiring in 1986. John was a kind and loving man and had many friends. He will be greatly missed.
John was a member of the New London United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Fritz's Polka Band Fan Club, the Town of Verona Grievance Board, and was the Secretary of Rathbunville Cemetery. John enjoyed farming, gardening, polka music, and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving besides his wife is one daughter, Della Marie and her husband Fred Marchione, Laconia, NH; four step children, Brenda and Michael Henry, New London, Lillie Schwerdt, Frankfort, Richard and Jeanette Reinhardt, Little Falls, and Harold Reinhardt and Melissa King, New London; six grandchildren, Aaron, Jenna, Erika, Richard, Benjamin, and Gina.
The Geissler family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care and the New London Volunteer Fire Department.
Services: Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2007, at 10:00 AM at the New London United Methodist Church. Interment will take place in Rathbunville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Contributions in John's memory may be made to the New London Methodist Church or New London Fire Department.
