Jay Street, Rome, New York, died Friday, April 7, 2006 in Rome Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born March 30, 1915 in Jersey City, New Jersey the son of Peter and Eva Tropila. Mr. Tropila was educated in Rome. On August 28, 1937 he married Theresa Butkiewicz in Rome. Mr. Tropila was employed at Rome Strip Steel for forty-five years retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Holy Name Society. Surviving besides his wife are one daughter, Carolyn Richardson, Marietta, Georgia; one son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Dorothy Tropila, Parrish, Florida; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, James Tropila who died in 2000. Funeral will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Tuesday 9:00A.M. and St. Mary's Church 9:30A.M. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 4:00p.M. to 7:00P.M. Monday.
