"Don" Douglas, 65, of Rome, died Friday March 24, 2005 at the Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. Siegenthaler Center. He was born August 14, 1940 in Rome the son of Elmer and Violet Adams Douglas. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy Class of 1958. On October 23, 1965 he married Delores Vroomin. She died January 23, 1984. Don later married Margaret Streiff on June 14, 1985. She died October 20, 2001. Don worked for 40 years at Rome Cable Corporation. He previously served in the US Navy from 1959 to 1963. Don was a member of the Rome Moose Club, Henry P. Smith Post American Legion, Stanwix Men's Club, and the Disabled American Veteran's. He is survived by a son, Philip Douglas, Rome; three step-daughters, Sandra Wolf, Rochester, Claudia (David) Lewis, Vernon, and Crystal (Bill) Brower, Lee Center; a step-son, John Lohr, Constableville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Joseph Casadei, Joliet, IL, Beverly and Harold Marolf, New Hartford; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Nancy Douglas, Morrisville; a brother-in-law, Clifford Rowlands, Floyd; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Rowlands. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11am at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8pm. Contributions in Don's memory maybe made to the Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.
