(Perk) Campbell, 72, Rome, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 in Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare Center, New Hartford after a long illness. He was born August 25, 1933 in Scranton, Pennsylvania the son of Robert P. and Wilma (Pinky) Grimes Campbell. Perk attended St. Mary's School and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy the Class of 1951 where he was a member of the swimming and diving team. On April 4, 1959 he married Barbara Guiliano in St. John the Baptist Church. He was a retired member of Local 112 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. Mr. Campbell served the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and was an avid fan of youth sports; Little League, Fran Allison Basketball, Pony-Colt, Pop Warner, Rome Free Academy Basketball, Football and Lacrosse. Perk enjoyed videotaping all sports games and family functions. Mr. Campbell's family would like to extend a special thank you to the Rome Dialysis Unit for the six years of exceptional care. Surviving besides his wife are one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Scott Steagall, Rome; three sons and daughters-in-law, James P. and Marcia Campbell, Katy, Texas; Richard J. and Sandy Campbell, Rome; Thomas J. and Diane Campbell, Jr., Lee Center; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marlene and Gerald Closinski, Betty and John G. Zullo and Karen Schlicher, all of Rome; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Jan Campbell, Florida; John (Jack) and Pat Campbell, Michigan; Lawrence (Larry) and Marilyn Campbell, Rome and grandchildren, Ryan Brodock, Samantha Steagall, Lauren, James, Anthony, Robert, Kal and Mirra Campbell and one " grandson on the way, Carson Robert Campbell." He was predeceased by one son, Robert P. Campbell and a brother, Paul Campbell. Funeral will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Monday 12:15P.M. and St. Mary's Church 1:00P.M. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Perk's memory to the Robert P. Campbell Rome Travel Scholarship Fund, 42 Family Circle, Lee Center, New York 13363. Services: Calling hours Sunday 4-7pm Funeral Monday 12:15pm at the funeral home and 1pm at St. Mary's Church
