(Debbie) DeCosty, 52, of 106 McAvoy St., Rome, died on January 4, 2006 at St. Lukes's Healthcare Center after a long and difficult illness. Debbie was born March 27, 1953 in Rome, the only child of her beloved parents Patsy and Madaline Nero DeCosty. Debbie graduated from Rome Catholic High School, received her Bachelors degree from Damon College, Buffalo, NY, and earned a Masters degree in Education from SUNY Cortland. Debbie taught at St. Peter's School in North Utica for over 25 years. She brought an incomparable passion for teaching to her classroom and a dedication that greatly influenced and motivated her students to learn. Teaching was the greatest source of joy in her life. Debbie is survived by several cousins, three of whom were with her when she died. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11am at St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Interment will take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Rome. Friends may call at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Friday from 4-7pm. Contributions may be made in her memory to St. Peter's School Memorial Fund or the Make A Wish Foundation.
