Obituary: Arthur W. (Artie) Richardson, 81, of Rome, New York, died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at his son's residence after a brief illness with his family by his side.
He was born August 20, 1924 in Rome the son of Homer D. and Lelia E. Brittain) Richardson.
Arthur was a 1942 graduate of Rome Free Academy Trade School .
He was employed as a machinist and toolmaker for Revere Copper and Brass for thirty-one years and Rome Iron Mills for several years.
Arthur was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served as the Junior Commander from 1985 - 1986 and the Senior Commander from 1986 - 1987.
"Artie" was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and computer "wiz".
Surviving are his former wife, Helen Albanoski Richardson and their six children, three daughters, Patricia Fimmano, Rome; Sandra Richardson and Susan and Ronald Hrynuk, of Ava; three sons, Gary and Kathy Richardson, Lee Center; Wayne and Carol Richardson and Ronald and Hope Richardson, all of Rome; two sisters, Jean and Morris Nelson, Rome; Greta and Alfred Coppersmith, Palm Coast, Florida; one brother, Curtis and Pixie Richardson, VanHornesville, New York; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a step-son, Billy and Sherry Patterson. He was predeceased by his lifelong companion, Barbara Patterson, two grandsons, Justin and Damon Richardson, and a brother, Irving Richardson.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Saturday 6:00P.M. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Lee.
Friends may call at the funeral home 2:00P.M. to 6:00P.M. Saturday.
