Obituary:Olinda "Linda" Fico Carollo of Laurel Street, Rome, passed away Friday, January 13, 2006 in St. Elizabeth Hospital from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident.
She was born in Cosenza, Italy on December 8, 1922, the daughter of Rosario and Rosa Fico. Educated in Italy, she moved to Rome, New York and later married Joseph Carollo, Jr. on June 21, 1951. They shared a loving 50-year union before he passed away in August of 2001.
Together with her husband, she operated "Joe Carollo & Sons-Grocery Store" for many years. A talented seamstress, Linda was later employed by Goldberg's Department Store of Rome.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church.
Her affection for family and friends was evident in everything she did. An amazing cook, she was celebrated for her fantastic Italian cookies and enjoyed canning garden produce but most of all, she loved to share the fruits of her labors. Her grandchildren were her life's greatest joy.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph (Rosemary) Carollo III of Rome and Samuel (Sally) Carollo, Cape Vincent; five grandsons, Robert (Michelle), Ronald, Samuel, Gregory and Evan Carollo and three-great-grandchildren, Anthony Kirk, Amanda Carollo and Colin Carollo. In addition she is also survived by her late brother, Angelo's two sons and their families who were as dear to her as her own children, Rosario (Kathy) Fico, Zion, Illinois; Gaetano Judy Fico, Cicero; sister Esterina Carpino, Italy and her two sons,
Pepino and Tonine, as well as a brother and sister-in-law, Samuel and Genevieve Carollo, all of Rome and several dear nieces and nephews. Linda also leaves her special friends, Yolanda Lucci and Rose Sanzone. She was predeceased by her husband, brother,
grandson, Joseph F. Carollo, IV and several brothers and sisters-In-law.
Funeral will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Wednesday 8:45A.M. and St. Mary's Church 9:30A.M. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. Tuesday.
