Name: Faith L. Murphy Date of Death: Friday, March 25, 2005 Residence: Rome Age: 69 Obituary:Faith L. Murphy, 69, of 919 Floyd Avenue, Rome, New York, went home to the Lord Friday, March 25, 2005 in the Martin Lutheran Home, Clinton, New York. She was born August 3, 1935 in Gloversville, New York the daughter of Daniel and Violet Garnier Warren. Mrs. Murphy was a graduate of Johnstown High School the Class of 1953, she attended Russell Sage College and graduated in 1956 from Ellis Hospital as a Registered Nurse, received a BA from Empire State College in 1988 and her Masters Degree as a Social Worker from Syracuse University in 1990. On October 11, 1958 she married John D. (Moe) Murphy in St. Patrick's Church, Johnstown. He passed away February 4, 1982. Faith was a certified Social Worker for Family Services retiring in 1997 and previously was Owner and President of Perretta Candy Co., Inc. She served in the United States Navy and was an Ensign Nurse from 1956-1958. Mrs. Murphy was a member of St. Peter's Church; its Altar and Rosary Society, served as a Eucharistic Minster, she also was of member of the Church Choir, and the Friendly Visitors of St. Peter's. Faith was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Welcome Hall, and Rome Memorial Hospital, did Prison Ministry at Oneida and Mohawk Correction Facilities, and was an active member of the Democratic Party. Faith was a loving mother and grandmother who loved life and brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew her. She will be missed. Mrs. Murphy's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff on the Willow Way Unit of the Martin Luther Home for their wonderful care. Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Terri M. and Russell Hall, Town of Lee; Catherine A. Anderson, Rome; Maryann P. and Scott Patrick, Whitesboro; Karin R. and Mark Minicozzi, Rome; five sons and one daughter-in-law, John D. Murphy, Jr., Rome; Patrick J and Stacy Murphy, Westmoreland; Daniel M. Murphy, Providence, Rhode Island; Michael E. Murphy, Brooklyn; James R. Murphy, Rome; one sister, Patricia Mentink, Schenectady; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Arlene Warren, Guilderland; nineteen grandchildren; , two sisters-in-law, Deany Warren, Fairfax, Virginia; Joan Warren, Saratoga; a special family member, Mary Murphy, Rome; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel and John Warren. Funeral will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street Wednesday 9:15A.M. and St. Mary's Church 10:00A.M. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 2:00P.M. to 4:00P.M. and 7:00P.M. to 9:00P.M. Contributions in Faith's memory may be made to the St. Peter's Church Memorial Fund. Services: Funeral services Wednesday 9:15am at funeral home and 10am at St. Mary's Church Calling hours Tuesday 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
