Smith, 79, formerly of Rome-Oriskany Road, Rome, New York, died November 22, 2005 in Rome Nursing Home. She was born July 31, 1926 in Rome the daughter of Vincent and Rosina Perri. Rose was educated in Rome. On July 21, 1946 she married Fred Smith in Rome. He died January 26, 1990. Mrs. Smith was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base and Aquino's Restaurant. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and the Rome Moose Lodge. Rose loved to play bingo. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Mike McSweeney and one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Mary Smith, all of Rome; one sister, Pauline Perri, Rochester; a daughter-in-law, Diane Smith, Rome; one sister-in-law, Luetta Perri, Guthrie, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Mike, Pauline, Bonnie, Vinny, Marc, Michelle, Melissa, Fred, Kelly, four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan, Brett, Chris and two nieces, Lucia and Cece Perri. She was predeceased by a son, Vincent Smith, Grandson, Michael McSweeney and one brother, Joseph Perri. Funeral will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street on Saturday at 10:00am and St. John the Baptist Church at 10:30am. Interment St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Friday. Contributions may be made in Rose's to the Rome Free Academy Baseball Dugout Club.
