Name: Marie S. Montoya Date of Death: Monday, November 14, 2005 Residence: Rome NY Age: 86 Obituary:Marie S. Montoya, 86, of Rome, died November 14, 2005 after being stricken at home. She was born July 15, 1919 in Utica, the daughter of Andrew and Agnes Potaczala Urbanik. Marie was a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names and St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing. On June 7, 1944 she married Anthony Montoya, Sr. in Old St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco, CA. Marie was a Registered Nurse at Rome Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. She served in the US Navy as a nurse stationed at Aiea Heights Naval Hospital overlooking Pearl Harbor during World War II, where she achieved the rank of Ensign. She was a member of Transfiguration Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society. Surviving besides her husband, are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce and Donna Montoya, Rome, and David Montoya, Rome; a sister-in-law, Cordelia Urbanik, Rome; two granddaughters and their husbands, Michelle and Marc Browne, Corinth, TX, and Lisa and Josh Jeror, Rome; and three great grandchildren, Madison Marie, Zoe, and Josh. She was predeceased by a son, Anthony Jr., a sister, Stephanie Urbanik, and a brother, Stanley Urbanik. Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Friday at 9:30am and Transfiguration Church at 10am. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7pm.
