Hakac, 83, of 109 Locomotive Avenue, Rome, New York, died Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at the Rome Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born October 19, 1922 in Rome the daughter of Joseph and Sophie Hujsak Luczynski. Mrs. Hakac was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On October 1, 1949 she married Bernard H. Hakac in Transfiguration Church. He died November 10, 1970. Leona was employed at Montgomery Wards for nineteen years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Transfiguration Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, South Rome Senior Citzens and the Ava Dorfman Senior Center. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Alen Ugnat, Bevaix, Switzerland; Eleanor and William Slade, Suffolk, Virginia; one son, Bernard (Ben) Hakac, Webster; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Leo and Joyce Luczynski and Josephine Luczynski, all of Rome and two granddaughters, Liana and Megan. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Posello, two sisters, Jennie Luczynski, Stella Luczynski and four brothers, Theodore, Felix, Edward, and Stanley (Bay) Luczynski. Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Saturday 9:30A.M. and Transfiguration Church 10:00A.M. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. Friday. Contributions may be made in Leona's memory to Transfiguration Church Memorial Fund. Services: Calling hours Fri. 4-7pm Funeral Sat. 9:30am at the funeral home and 10am at Transfiguration Church
